The Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna pursues world-class research in basic molecular biology. It is located at the Vienna BioCenter and largely sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim. With over 200 scientists from about 40 countries, the IMP is committed to scientific discovery of fundamental molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying complex biological phenomena.

Research Technician

We are looking for a part-time research technician to provide support for the laboratory of Clemens Plaschka. The lab’s research focuses on RNA biology and uses biochemical and structural biology, biochemistry, and genome-wide assays to study mRNA regulation.

The main responsibilities for this position will be:

Your tasks:

  • Support for mammalian cell culture at various scales (plates and spinner flasks)
  • Maintenance of cell culture stocks
  • Routine molecular biology techniques such as PCR and molecular cloning

Your profile:

Successful applicants should thus have a strong background and experience in molecular biology and cell culture. He or she should be friendly, interactive, well-organized, and highly motivated. An ability to work as a team and good English communication are essential.
